Important COVID-19 Camp Updates

Despite all the best laid plans, camp amidst the backdrop of global pandemic will require a lot of flexibility. That said, we’re guided by our commitment to safely having as many kids on campus as possible, for as much time as possible, with as much immersion as possible.

As ever, our camps are designed to offer experiential learning opportunities -- one week at a time -- that allow a child to have fun, be safely cared for, and explore a new part of their world. We will continue to strive to offer that under our evolved camp.

Following Governor Polis’ orders, summer camps opened on Monday, June 15 for:

  • 10-person small groups
  • For 5-7 and 8-10 year olds
    • Camps for 3 to 4 year olds will begin July 6
    • 11-14 year old camps are cancelled for the entire summer due to severely diminished enrollment
  • Utilizing health and safety best practices (masks, social distancing, limited-to-no student mixing)
  • A limited total number of students on campus at a time, a number based on our ability to offer clean restrooms at all times.

Due to many changes beyond our control - namely vendor and staff availability - we will need to make significant adjustments to themes and maintain a high level of flexibility.

  • We will not be able to offer any camps through an external vendor. All planned Variety camps will now operate as an English speaking version of the language camps for that week.

  • Modifying programming to reflect the latest orders (ie, we cannot offer certain themes, such as Farm to Table).
    • Focusing on language, creativity, physical activity, safe social interaction with other children, opportunities for self expression and experiential learning activities.

    • We will confirm camp themes 1-2 weeks in advance, depending on CDC guidelines and state regulations.

    • 5-7 and 8-10 year old age groups may be combined within the language if the total enrollment for the week is less than 10.

  • With groups limited to 10 children (instead of 20), there will be one teacher with each camp.

  • Camp will be available 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM daily with staggered pick up and drop off times assigned to each class.

    • We can no longer offer before- or after-care options, as we cannot mix children between their classroom groups.

    • Camp hours will need to be strictly enforced to maximize safety protocols.

  • Lunch and snacks will still be included from SAGE dining
    • SAGE not only prepares nutritious and delicious food, but is also focused on minimizing food waste, able to accomodate all food allergies, and help us keep a cleaner environment by reducing the number of items brought on campus from home.
